Announcement of Custard Family Merit Award Recipients
Atlanta, GA - October 1, 2011 -
Custard Insurance Adjusters, Inc. is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2011-2012 Custard Family Merit Award, a scholarship program designed to assist employees’ children and grandchildren who are continuing their education in college or vocational school programs. Seven outstanding students received awards in the amount of $2,500 through the program administered by Scholarship America. The scholarship recipients were selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations and an outside appraisal. The recipients of this year’s award are as follows.
Sara Brown is a sophomore majoring in Education at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. Sara is the recipient of the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award, the Silver President’s Award and a two time recipient of the Gold Presidents Award. She is also a member of the Quill & Scroll Honor Society, the National Honor Society, the English Honor Society and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In addition, Sara has achieved the distinction of being a Second Degree Black Belt. Sara is the daughter of Adjuster, Dwight Brown of Custard’s Tampa, Florida branch location.
Jamie Burkholder is a freshman majoring in Communications at Indiana Wesleyan University. Jamie graduated Suma Cum Laude and holds an Academic Honors diploma from Eastern High School. She was secretary of her senior class, secretary of the Interact Club and was her high school’s tennis sectional champion. In addition, Sara participated in the orchestra and received the Gold Award for Swing Choir. Jamie is the Granddaughter of Administrative Assistant, Virginia Gingerich of Custard’s Kokomo, Indiana branch location.
Karisa Burkholder is a senior at Indiana Wesleyan University majoring in Biology where she has been proudly recognized six times on the University’s Dean’s List. In addition to her work at the university, she initiated and led a scrapbooking class for the Boys and Girls Club of Grant County, participated in a mission trip to Amazonas, Brazil and has participated in volunteer work with Siblings of Children with Disabilities. Karisa is the Granddaughter of Virginia Gingerich of Custard’s Kokomo, Indiana branch location.
Julie Dillman is a junior majoring in Accounting at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. Julie has maintained an exemplary academic record and has demonstrated leadership through participation in various school and community activities. She is the daughter of Adjuster, Ed Dillman of Custard’s branch location in Louisville, Kentucky.
Tyler Mullins is a freshman at Ball State University majoring in Architecture. Tyler was a scholarship recipient of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana and was a participant in the Southeast Christian Church Bible and Beach event. In addition, he holds the recognition of being the Sam Peden Doubles Tennis Champion. Tyler is the son of Adjuster, Kevin Mullins of CIA Hurricane, WV.
Brian O’Dea is a sophomore at the University of Arkansas majoring in Law. Brian is the recipient of the In-state Academic Tuition Scholarship to the University of Arkansas. He is a member of the Classics Honor Society and enjoys Latin studies, reading, running and hiking. Brian is the son of Adjuster, Michael O’Dea of CIA Tulsa, OK.
Kaitlyn Thumann is a freshmanmajoring in Pre-Optometry at Baylor University.Kaitlyn was a Distinguished Honor Graduate, member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and P.O.W.E.R. She was a 1 st Team All District softball and volleyball player and selected to TGCA All State and All Star Teams. She recently participated on a mission trip to Costa Rica. Kaitlyn is the daughter of Texas Regional Manager, Dale Thumann located out of the company’s Houston, Texas branch office.
