Announcement of Custard Family Merit Award Recipients

Atlanta, GA - September 1, 2010 - Custard Insurance Adjusters, Inc. is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2010-2011 Custard Family Merit Award, a scholarship program designed to assist employees’ children and grandchildren who are continuing their education in college or vocational school programs. Five outstanding students received awards in the amount of $3,000 through the program administered by Scholarship America. The scholarship recipients were selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations and an outside appraisal. The recipients of this year’s award are as follows.

Allison Binkley is a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Allison graduated third in her high school class, and received both the New York State Merit Scholarship and Wegman’s Scholarship. In addition to focusing on her studies at Canisius College she also finds time to volunteer at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and works part-time at Wegman’s pharmacy. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Allison plans to continue her education towards a Pharmaceutical Degree. Allison is the daughter of Administrative Assistant, Wendy Binkley of Custard’s Buffalo, NY office.

Karisa Burkholder is a junior at Indiana Wesleyan University majoring in Biology where she is recognized on the Dean’s List. In addition to her work at the university she initiated and led a scrapbooking class for the Boys and Girls Club of Grant County, participated on a mission trip to Amazonas, Brazil and works part-time at Preferred Eye Care in Marion. Karissa is the Granddaughter of Virginia Gingerich, Administrative Assistant in Custard’s Kokomo, Indiana branch office.

Richard Haupt is a sophomore majoring in History at the University of Alabama Huntsville. Richard enjoys all aspects of history and literature and was enrolled in the University of Montevallo’s Honor’s Program prior to transferring to the University of Alabama Huntsville. Richard is the son of Adjuster, Derek Brouillette of Custard’s Huntsville, Alabama Branch location.

Devin O’Dea is a senior at the University of Arkansas majoring in Biochemistry. In addition to maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, Devin’s academic awards are numerous and include the Dean’s Honor Roll, Eta Sigma Pi (Honors Classical Studies), Socratic Society (Honors Philosophy) and Alpha Epsilon Delta (Honors Pre-Med). He is also the founder and President of CO-SIGN, a 40 member organization for college students interested in Neurology. Devin recently completed an internship at Arkansas Children’s Hospital intended to allow outstanding college students the opportunity to experience a career in academic medicine. Devin is the son of Adjuster, Michael O’Dea of CIA Tulsa, OK.

Troy Geyer is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Architecture. He serves as an Architecture instructor and mentor to other architecture students and is a member of AIAS. Troy also serves as an American Red Cross health and safety instructor and volunteer and serves as a volunteer for the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer Association. Troy is the son of Joy Geyer, the Branch Manager for Custard’s Milwaukee, WI branch location.

“We are extremely proud of these deserving young adults and wish them the very best in their scholastic endeavors and future successes”, stated Wendy Custard, co-founder of the Custard Family Merit Award.
