Announcement of Custard Family Merit Award Recipients

Atlanta, GA - December 1, 2009 - Custard Insurance Adjusters, Inc. is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2009-2010 Custard Family Merit Award, a scholarship program designed to assist employees’ children and grandchildren who are continuing their education in college or vocational school programs. Six outstanding students received awards in the amount of $3,000 through the program administered by Scholarship America. The scholarship recipients were selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations and an outside appraisal. The recipients of this year’s award are as follows.

Allison Binkley is a freshman majoring in Biochemistry at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. Allison graduated third in her high school class, and received both the New York State Merit Scholarship and Wegman’s Scholarship. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Allison plans to continue her education towards a Pharmaceutical Degree. Allison is the daughter of Administrative Assistant, Wendy Binkley of Custard’s Buffalo, NY office.

Jillian Conover , a sophomore majoring in Marketing at the University of Tennessee, has been recognized on the Dean’s list for the two previous semesters and is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. While in high school she received the Academic Excellence Award, Civic Service Award, and the Outstanding Leadership Award. Jillian is the daughter of Debbie Conover who is the Administrative Assistant in Custard’s Nashville, TN branch office. .

Troy Geyer is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Architecture. His involvement at the university includes Student Association Senator, Treasurer for the American Institute of Architecture Students, and mentor for other Architecture students at both the college and high school level. Troy also serves as an American Red Cross instructor and volunteer. Troy is the son of Joy Geyer, the Branch Manager for Custard’s Milwaukee, WI branch location.

Devin O’Dea is a junior at the University of Arkansas majoring in Biophysical Chemistry. Devin is the founder and president of the college’s Student Interest Group in Neurology, the Scholarship Chairman for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, all while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. During his course of study, Devin participated in a Study Abroad program in Greece partially funded by an honors study abroad grant. Devin is the son of Adjuster, Michael O’Dea of CIA Tulsa, OK.

Justin O’Hare is a sophomore majoring in Neurobiology at Northwestern University. He is actively involved in research in neurobiology, a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and enjoys Club Tennis and playing golf and saxophone. Justin is the grandson of Custard’s Terre Haute Branch Manager, Michael Willison.

Richard Zawadski , a senior at the University of Central Florida is a Math/Computer Science major. He is a volunteer for Cha-Cha Days at the University of Central Florida, enjoys playing racquetball and spending time with friends, and maintains a part-time job while completing his coursework at the university. Richard is the son of employees Joe and Rita Zawadski, Branch Manager and Adjuster respectively of CIA Jacksonville, FL.
