Custard Insurance Adjusters Responds to 2004 Hurricane
Crisis
Atlanta, GA - November 30, 2004 - The 2004 hurricane season
proved to be a record breaking season for hurricane activity on
the Atlantic and Gulf coast triggering the nation's biggest natural-disaster
response. Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne all slammed
the state of Florida taking 117 lives, destroying more than 25,000
homes and heavily damaging 4,600 more. Damage was estimated at $42
billion, surpassing the $34.9 billion cause by Hurricane Andrew
in 1992. Custard's response to the crisis was swift as the CIA Catastrophe
Team was quickly put into action.
"The four hurricane's that hit the Atlantic and Gulf coast
and rolled through the southern states within a period of two months
took everyone by surprise," said Joe Wiggins, Sr. Vice President
and District Manager for the Southeast Region. "We quickly
determined that additional manpower and equipment would be needed
to assist the CAT team in Florida, Alabama and Pennsylvania. We
were under a lot of pressure to respond quickly and efficiently
and I am happy to say that we did just that".
Custard mobilized adjusters, managers and administrative staff
from CIA branches throughout the United States and Canada to assist
with claims handling and processing. At this time, thousands of
claims have been processed and hurricane claims continue to trickle
into Custard's CAT offices on a daily basis.
Brian Shove, CIA President stated, "We are very pleased with
the way the entire CIA team of professionals came together in a
time of crisis to assist our customers and fellow human beings during
a time of need. Many people throughout the south and in the northeast
suffered tremendous losses and our hearts go out to those folks.
We continue to do everything we can to help them recover from their
losses".
